Swimming Against The Tide

Olde Streete

The Wonderspouse had another day off work today - not for any particular reason, just to rest, and because his annual leave year ends at the end of September and it's a case of "use it or lose it" so he's now taking the spare days that he's kept just in case he needs them!

It was wonderful to have another lie-in, in the wondrous new bed! We then had pancakes for breakfast and went out for the day to Stratford-upon-Avon, partly because it's a nice place to go out, and partly because if we drive the other way at the moment then we get stuck because there's a fair in town!

We did the usual browsing, a bit of business at our respective banks, bought lightbulbs, dye & washing up brushes, then went to the out of town Tesco to do a proper shopping for food and so on.

While we were in town we laughed at the Shakespeare stuff and crazy tourists as we usually do. It always amuses me that the entrance to Shakespeare's birthplace is through the visitor centre - bet Mrs Shakespeare was well chuffed when she was in labour, having to go through the visitor centre - poor lady!

This is one of those "Ye Olde Cobblede Streetes" leading to one of those "Tudor World" experiences! Apparently you can "find out what life was really like in the Tudor period"!!! My memories from school are that people threw the contents of their chamber pots out of windows, so I thought it would be rather smelly and nasty! I quite liked the street though!

The Wonderspouse thought the night-time ghost hunting expotitions were the most interesting bits! Knowing him, he'd BE a ghost & scare everyone else on the expotition witless!

In other news, Dexter has spent the day in the sitting room, watching (appropriately) an episode of Dexter on the DVD! It's fabulous having him close to us! Gentle progress is being made towards full integration!
