In with the Old and Out with the New!

The building in front is Provost Skene's House, a late medieval townhouse that is now a museum; the building in the back is St Nicholas House, HQ of Aberdeen City Council - guess which one is scheduled for demolition?

Yep, it's the horrible 1970s tower block!! Yippee!

That terrible eyesore has been cluttering up our skyline for 30 years or more and now it's had its chips! The council have taken over Marischal College from the university and are doing it up to be their new HQ, only they haven't actually left enough dosh to knock down St Nicks - so any kind JCB owners or dynamite manufacturers who want some free fun, do come up here!! Only PROTECT our historic Provost Skene's hoose!

The whole area of the Broadgate was once a mass of wonderful closes and lanes - they were obliterated by the developers, who are now wishing otherwise, and we have a lunatic businessman who wants to build a city square on our Victorian gardens in Union Terrace! If ever there was a place that'll need something once St Nick's finally goes, THIS is it!!

Doomed to repeat the mistakes of history? Never a truer word said!

(here endeth today's rant!) ;)
