Marjorie's ramblings

Haltwhistle Northern Circular

On today's long walk we left Haltwhistle by the Haltwhistle Burn, climbed the easy road to Cawfield's Quarry and then made our way across open access land near to Scotch Coulthard. This is fairly wild country with wide open views.

When the walk was checked a couple of weeks ago there had been rain, and there was no possibility of crossing this burn. The recent dry weather made it relatively easy to get across. There were no wet feet.

12+miles from the start and we returned to town. A few of us ended the afternoon in the Black Bull for a drink and a crack. The log fire was on - autumn has definitely arrived.
