Nerines

Today is my one day at home during the walking festival. I have missed being out today, but I needed a break and I want to be able to walk the next 4 days.

It was grey and cold today. I planned to snap the Michaelmas daisies, but there was not one insect to be seen on the flowers. Then in the back garden I saw that the first of the nerines had burst into flower. They are such show offs and look far too delicate for this inclement time of year. Year after year they come back and reward us with their beauty.

This was taken hand held with the new 18 - 200mm lens - I'm still pushing it to its limits.
