Anita Maria

Sometimes the more familiar that I am with a place the harder it is to choose subjects to photograph. Perhaps, in some ways, this is better because it means I need to look just a bit harder to find a subject.

I?ve always been fascinated by structures when they start to decay, and this old
fishing boat at Low Newton attracted my attention this morning. It?s a long time since the Anita Maria last floated on the water and, unless some tidal North Sea surge carries her away, it seems unlikely that she will encounter the sea again. Here, in this her seaside graveyard, her timbers slowly crumble and her metalwork rusts.
