Sunlight through beech

Our busy day yesterday meant that the dogs were a bit deprived of exercise, though now that they're fairly old ladies they don't mind the odd day of rest.

To make up for it, we took them for a morning walk to one of their favourite spots, Southey Wood, where they can potter to their heart's content without their leads (a few year's ago they would chase around, but those days are long gone).

There were plenty of seedheads and fungi to photograph, but in the end it was the light shining through the beech leaves that caught my eye - such a glorious symphony of gold and russet.

My other photos can be seen here.
