Christmas shopping and the Albion

Went Christmas Shopping in chester today, stopping off for lunch at one of my fave pubs ever.

It's a funny old place, the Albion. 'Funny' as in charming. 'Funny' as in a bit weird too, but in a good way: William Morris wallpaper, an old piano, hand pumps not electric, an open fire and best of all a cook who you wouldn't mess with or be cheeky to for fear of her wipping you with her tea towel.

It's an amazingly well preserved traditional British pub that prides itself on serving good food and beer set firmly in the period of the great war. There's some fantastic REAL (not 'theme rented' or fake) paraphernalia on the walls that make for interesting reading.

The sign in my blip creates mixed feelings for me, partly because I'm Welsh ;-) and partly because of the comedic honesty in the last line.

Next to the front door is a small sign that reads 'We're open when we're open', but those in the know are clued up to form an orderly que at least 15mins before the door is unlocked. Great stuff.
