Blipping Red!

Hanging the laundry out at around 11am this morning I was struck by the quality of the light and how many wonderful reds were lighting up the garden. The brightest display was in the leaves alone, though there are also red berries on the cotoneaster and holly and the Sedum Spectabile is now out in glorious deep pinky red. Over the years I've been building up a collection of photographs taken in the garden at different times of the year. It's interesting to look back and identify the years that have been good for colour and when the leaves have finally fallen. Normally the native trees in our valley are fairly drab (they're mainly sycamore (acer pseudoplatanus) and oak but this year the colour is quite stunning - not exactly a New England fall landscape but nevertheless for us it looks great.
