The Edge of the Wold

The Plimsoll Line?

Alternative title: Flotsam or Jetsam?

A miserably wet Cumbrian day, when it never really seemed to get light. There was a lot of rain and it was beginning to look like there might be floods somewhere in the county. It has stopped now (9.30pm) and the forecast for tomorrow is not so bad. So hopefully the danger is averted.

On my way to work I popped down to have a look at the River Kent after a night of rain. This is taken south of Kendal, near Natland. The Kent is a big, flashy river and where it passes through this area it is funnelled through a limestone, wooded gorge. The volume of water was impressive, but by the end of the day, it would have been much more dramatic than this.

Thank you for your encouraging comments yesterday. I will do my best to keep up with the daily blip through the shorter days. After all, the days will soon be getting longer again.
