Windswept

What a strange day that was.

All this adverse weather's fine at weekends but it's a right pain in the arse on a Monday morning. We spent the best part of two hours waiting to find out if the schools were open for the kids, which they were but we decided to keep them off anyhow based on the forecast. Good move as the school was closed by 9:15 and all those that had ventured out got sent home. All I can say is thank the wee man for Facebook and Twitter as the status updates that were flying around before the sun was even up this morning kept us all up-to-date with closures and travel problems. What did we do before all this again?

I managed to slip and slide my way in to work only to arrive and find an all staff email saying if you haven't set out for work yet, don't. Great. Held on until 2ish when we were all despatched home before the snow began again. I stopped on the road to capture Dumyat looking gorgeously windswept in the sunshine. The icy wind from the east is certainly whipping the snow off her shoulder good style (seen better in the large version) and it also made a good job of turning my ungloved fingers to icicles too.

And now it would seem we're closed again tomorrow. All this campaigning for a day off to celebrate St. Andrew's day seems to have worked out in the end without any intervention from the Scottish government.

Wonder what the weather's to be like tomorrow...
