Evanescent Beauty

"How like a winter hath my absence been. From thee, the pleasure of the fleeting year! What freezings have I felt, what dark days seen, What old December's bareness everywhere!."

- William Shakespeare

The jacarandas that dot Sydney are absolutely gorgeous. They come into bloom in spring, and the flowers start to drop immediately, covering the ground in a beautiful soft carpet of purple blossom. The trees only stay in bloom for a few weeks - and I think that in a way that's part of their beauty.
