Sgwarnog: In the Field

Half a Skateboard

half a skateboard

We woke to a deep hoar frost. Parts of Yorkshire had their coldest December day on record, and we stayed comfortably below zero throughout.

I love the frost and glitter, and the brittle look it brings to the landscape. I don't love the icy pavements of frozen snow though. Journeys of all types were perilous.

Which brings me to today's image, which seems to mark a dramatic end to somebody's journey. Although this isn't my prettiest or best picture of the day, I thought, 'How often will I find half a skateboard abandoned at Baildon station?'

The scene is as I found it, complete with stray rail ticket (Child: Guiseley-Baildon), although I've take the liberty of cropping the sides slightly to square it off.

It will probably be frosty tomorrow, and you can have a crystal rose or cobweb then, but today you have the skateboard.
