Autumn turns to winter

This caught my eye yesterday morning, and as it's equally cold today, I snapped it on my way to school with the kids.

Thought it sums up how quickly autumn has turned to winter this year. Just a few weeks ago, the leaves were all coming down from the trees in a vast array of beautiful colours. Now they are frozen in little piles around gutters and drains where they will eventually thaw out and turn to sludge.
