Allottment with a view

The view is just about all our allottment has got at the moment apart from a few Christmas Brussel Sprouts and a mangled looking cabbages.

Our first visit for five weeks today to check for damage from the snow. Most things look to have stood up to the weather remarkably well, though we have lost the lidless plastic compost bin we inherited. I think I could see it propping up the boundary hedge but don't want to remove it before speaking to the holders of that plot.

A very enjoyable lunch at Cannon Hall with my mum, dad & brother. It's only the second time my mum has been out in over a fortnight as the snow and ice have kept her firmly rooted indoors. A long lunch and a browse around the farm shop (we bought two of their delicious egg custards) but no walk around the grounds today. Even though the snow has melted it has been one of those raw damp days that chill through to the bone. (The kind of day we used to have regularly in our part of the UK but which in recent years has become much less familiar.)

Not much happening on the bird front today - at least not while I was looking!
