Swimming Against The Tide

Lovely Supplies

Another day trapped by the snow. Another day without my car, which I'm hoping is OK, since I haven't heard anything from Peter (see 18th December blip).

The Wonderspouse proved his "wonder" again today. He walked into town, and most of the way back (someone from our village with a 4x4 gave him a lift the last mile) in order to collect some provisions. We have no shops in the village, and the nearest town is 2 miles away, so getting food when the weather is like this is a big deal! He also reported that the main road is absolutely chokker with abandoned vehicles!

It's now started snowing again, and the view out of our windows is, er, white. This morning there was a thick layer of ice on the inside of our bedroom window. The cats are going crazy - five of them indoors 24/7 is pushing things beyond the limit of what they can tolerate, and they don't understand why life seems so wrong at the moment.

However, we now have a good variety of food to last us for quite a few days. The Wonderspouse is going to plead with his work to let him work from home (he's not usually allowed to), I have cancelled my Christmas dinner with Scharwenka, which we'll have to reschedule for the New Year. I suspect we'll have to cancel or miss other things this week too.

But at least we have food now, which is a VERY GOOD thing!
