Swimming Against The Tide

Wall & Tree

Yes, truly, this is our garden wall and one of our conifers (see the bump on the right of the picture - this bump only became visible today). I've stuck the metre stick in the snow so you get an idea of depth!

Today you were supposed to get a wonderful festive blip of a festive lunch being enjoyed by myself and Scharwenka. But we've had to cancel.

Instead I'm trying to concentrate hard enough to do something constructive at my desk and to get through the ever-increasing amount of housework. Having to wear so many clothes means a lot of washing, having the cats indoors all the time means a lot of housework, and being unable to open the windows to air the place means lots of incense & candles to try to make the place smell nice!

The Wonderspouse can hardly walk today after yesterday's exertions. His legs are in pain and he's snoozing on the sofa as I type this. He's also trying to do some work when he can, and will have to stay late to make up time once he can get into work, otherwise they'll take it off his annual leave.

So it's another day where life is on pause. Another day without post or non-internet contact with the outside world. Another day telling the frustrated cats that it won't be like this for ever. Another day without the car. Another day trying to motivate myself to do something useful. Another day where it's too cold to spend much time upstairs. Another day staring at the TV from under a blanket. Another day trying to stay warm, and another day where going out to exercise is impossible. Running up and down the stairs anyone?
