Sgwarnog: In the Field

Icicle Grass

Another cold day, another chance to go sledging on the moor. There had been another dusting of powder snow overnight which added to the fun.

On the walk back home we took a slight detour to the corner of the reservoirs, where the outfall is normally a good spot for ice formations. We weren't disappointed, but this was the first time that I'd seen such a collection of icicles formed around individual stalks of grass. I've been lucky that the still, solid ice nicely counterbalances the rush of the outflow in the image - I was concentrating more on not falling in than anything else.

icicles ~ in bunches ~ clinking ~ like chimes ~ water music
