Cheering a grey cold day

The temperature is up today; the gutters have been dripping steadily, although most of the snow is still with us. The birds are still very hungry.

I wanted to find something colourful to blip. In the end I chose this macro of a polyanthus. It is one of three in a basket; they are a Christmas present and very cheerful indeed.

This was taken using only the kitchen lights but with the tripod. That was when I discovered that the cable release from my previous camera does not fit the new one. (I should not have been surprised!)
