Partial Solar Eclipse

This morning the Sun and the Moon rose almost in unison. Although there was fog and cloud clinging to the horizon, fifteen minutes after sunrise I was able to observe (using a hastily constructed pinhole camera) a partial solar eclipse (view the photo on Flickr). It was a wonderful sight, made better by the shifting patterns of light and colour that marked the beginning of the day.

This photo was taken sometime after sunrise with the sun rising higher in the sky and the eclipse coming to an end. Unfortunately without a filter it is difficult to discern that the Sun is partially obscured by the Moon.
