Day twelve: journey in the South

Well, it has been a while since the last Blip, due to (1) insuperable technical difficulties on day nine (the planned Blip was a combination of different types of Kingfisher beer, enough said) and (2) a pretty idiotic mistake of mine on day ten.

Latter day saw me in dodgy (in retrospect) Internet café. Plug in card reader and camera memory card. Computer wipes the lot and looks like put many interesting viral files on memory card. Only 200+ India photos lost. Grrrrr. Now, I will take the card home untouched (bought a new one just in case) to see if I can recover anything. And I will ALWAYS lock the card in future before dealing with said type of Internet cafes. But rather dented for a day or two my camera keenness.

To fill in the gap:

DAY NINE was due to leave Agra to fly to Delhi then Amritsar. First leg cancelled so 4.5hr taxi to Delhi and got to Amritsar late on.
DAY TEN was Amritsar and the Golden Temple (fantastic, best thing so far), Jallianwala Bagh (site of the massacre in 1919, very interesting), dodgy Internet café (soul destroying).
DAY ELEVEN was flight from Amristar to Delhi and then to Cochin.

Which brings us to Friday so it must be Cochin. Very nice spot in Kerala, at the north end of the Backwaters. Much lovely fish to eat and a fifth type of Kingfisher beer to drink. Maybe a sixth. Is blue in colour (the label, not the beer) and very tasty. No doubt many interesting cultural and other sites to visit, but am quite happy in my hammock testing out the beer and occasionally breaking off to eat another fish.

Tomorrow the Backwaters proper and maybe some more fish. And beer.

Oh, and the photo: this was on the window at the hotel this afternoon. Thankfully the other side from me as I am something of a shrieking ninnie when anything bigger than a Rice Crispie is trying to devour me.
