Butterflies are just pieces of Butter....

Last day of the holidays. We have had a tradition for some time now to finish any holiday with a trip to Dobbies where we indulge in cake heaven. Usually the cakes here are delicious and they offer quite a range. On the way in, my boy, who is in such a funny mood just now, was wittering on about the Butterfly farm and how 'Butterflies are just pieces of butter with very feathery wings, which fly around.' He is pure dead mental by the way!

Today we all opted for a 'breakfast' of fruit scone with jam and cream and hot chocolate.

The scone was definately not baked this morning and the jam hidden in a dark recess. The hot chocolate was grainy and bitter. Did we complain? No, we're British, we can't do that! Instead I took a picture - which makes it look far better than it was.

My boy and I then set about sorting out all the paperwork for his school trip to New Hampshire, USA. Ski helmet bought, passport sized picture taken and printed, passport located, and wadsacash exchanged for dollars. He is such a fashionista and is so excited about the shopping opportunities this trip will afford him.

He is wonderful. When he asked if he could go on the trip, he vowed to get a paper round and to pay for some of it himself. Sweet Baby. Today he was delighted to learn that his hard earned cash is now his spending money. It matters to me that my children, who are relatively privileged, know and understand that not everything is theirs for the taking. I've done my job.

Edit: today's learned task was to use spot metering, think that's why the hot choc is so out of focus and grainy - a bit like it tasted.
