A Sasanach's Skye photos

Looking towards Portree and the Storr

Another fine day. Too good to spend all day inside decorationg. So we drove round the loch to Penifiler and walked over the top to Vriskaig Point. It was a cloudless day with virtually no wind. Not what had been forecast; we expected wind and rain. Maybe that will arrive tomorrow.

Well here we are walking to Vriskaig Point and me as usual taking a multitude of photographs. You'd think I had taken enough having lived here for nearly thirty years but I still find enormous pleasure in my phoptography.

In many ways it is more enjoyable at this time because there are so few people about. The ground is still frozen with patches of ice and snow all about. We walked right down to the point and looked across to Portree. It was really quiet, peaceful. Just the noise from a couple of trawlers returning to port.

Not a lot of wild life about though. You'd think there would be a lot but not today.

Ah yes, I should point out the landmarks. Well that is Vriskaig point immediately in front of Clare. Beyond you can see Portree. To the north is the start of the Trotternish Ridge with the first large hill visible which is of course The Storr. To our right is the Sound of Raasay. Though unseen the Isle of Raasay is further to the right & on the far side of that is the Inner Sound.
