For a Few Pennies More

Today it's been difficult not to think about the events of yesterday. Having attended the same school half a life ago (both Samantha and I, though in the previous version) and with many colleagues also having children currently at the school it was the topic of many conversations. Can't imagine what the parents, the family and the friends of are going through at the moment.

Our current college campus in Alloa was built as a Junior Secondary School back in 1958 and looking at the stairs today I realised now what these little ornate lumps of metal on the bannisters may have been for. They certainly would have discouraged spirited schoolkids with a healthy sense of adventure from leaping on and sliding down them. Had the stairs in the brand spanking new part PFI funded modern secondary school been kitted out in a similar fashion maybe there wouldn't be a young lad gravely ill in hospital today.

Anyhow, it's been another wonderful energy sapping week in the wee County, topped off by having my desk at work flooded (in my absence) due to all this heavy rain. Surely next week can only improve?
