A Canterbury Tail

Le Louvre

We woke up to a rainy day today so decided to hit Le Louvre, Barking had never been in before despite umpteen visits to Paris, and I have only been to Paris once before so also hadn't been inside.

We had a buffet style breakfast at the hotel the headed for the Louvre a couple of kilometres from our hotel.

Inside we wandered around for ages checking out lots of the more famous pieces of art. We had a basic hit list of must see's including the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. We managed to tick off all the items in the Denon wing that we wanted to see, highlights for me were the Winged Victory of Samothrace, and Paolo Caliari's painting Les Noces de Cana.

After several hours navigating around one of the four wings in the Louvre for a pretty specific list, we ended up with museum fatigue. So headed off to a cafe for lunch and a coffee, it was about two thirty p.m. so we were both starving.

The rest of the day was spent aimlessly wandering round the back streets of Paris soaking up the atmosphere. The photo was taken outside Saint Eustache.
