Marjorie's ramblings

An uphill struggle!

The weather was perfect for walking today. 5 of us set off to walk the first half of the Haltwhistle Challenge in preparation for the event on May 21st. The views from Hadrian's Wall were stunning - it was so clear you could see for miles.

Here you see 3 of the group battling into the wind at Caw Gap. Of course those of you who are familiar with the area will know that they are facing east and the prevailing wind is from the west.......! However we were having a good time so I thought I'd blip this. We walked 12.5 miles which was fine, but I'm sure I don't want to do the 26 mile challenge. If anyone is interested full details are on Haltwhistle Walking Festival, which also includes details of all the walks in the Spring Festival.

The rest of our long walkers did an 8 mile walk from Bardon Mill and the short walkers were at Nenthead. A good time was had by all.
