Gothic Folly at Cannon Hall

Snow almost gone. Lunch with family today and a short walk around the grounds on what has been a very `raw' day.

The gothic window along with various remnants of stonework are set out iaround the small pond at Cannon Hall. It seems probable that this was created as a Victorian addition to this part of the garden rather than as part of the original design. The original grounds were landscaped in 1760 by by Richard Woods of Chertsey and on a fine day the view from the hall is stunning. It always amazes me that both the landscape architect and the owner had the vision to create something that they would never see mature.
