Mostly Six Five Oh

Headingley, Leeds

Woke up to bright sun, very cold and icy.  We drove to Headingley to have breakfast with the happy couple (above) - my first time meeting the groom-to-be.  We walked from their flat to one of the many local places; I had scrambled eggs on toast, very nice.

A very busy day so breakfast was short and sweet, the couple had lots of prep to do and my hubby had to take his mother to the hospital for a post surgery check up.  I found my way to Leeds railway station to meet one of the wedding guests coming up from London on the King's Cross train. I really don't know Leeds at all but found my way around fine.  The other guest and I had some lunch and then explored central Leeds and met briefly with a cousin of mine who is studying at the university.

Leeds was bustling and full of people, I was told it was half term which explained a lot of the activity.

In the afternoon we had tea at the Queens Hotel which was really excellent and we spent a few hours there talking and enjoying our very good sandwiches and cakes.  The hotel is a nice art deco building but the interior needs some love.

In the evening I found hubby back at the hotel and then dinner was had opposite in an Italian restaurant in the arches of the railway bridge.  The hotel was really in an excellent location, walking distance to everywhere we needed to get to but was removed from the main roads, it was lovely to be along the canal and the area has recently been developed after years of being kind of dodgy from what I gather.
