Kennetpans

What with it being sunny again, and with that unlikely to continue over the weekend, we'd hoped to get on the bikes again and head off down to the old abandoned whiskey distillery here today. Frustratingly, I had to wait in for a delivery - one of those ones the delivery company can only pin down to "between 8am and 5pm" - that arrived at 4pm.

Due to a horrific road traffic accident on the nearby approach to the Clackmannanshire Bridge early this morning, the roads around here had been closed and gridlocked until after 3pm so we might not have been able to get near the place anyhow.

So, instead, we drove down late in the afternoon and this time had a wander around inside the dilapidated ruin (been here before, but didn't venture inside. It is in a pretty bad way, as this page on the Kennetpans website shows, but it is open for a bit of careful exploration (long trousers advised, I've got a leg-full of nettle sting welts to prove it). From here it looks like it's the vegetation itself that's holding the place together. It would be a real shame to see it disappear completely so hopefully the campaign to restore the structure moves forward soon.

Have a good weekend all, we're off to prepare now for two days which apparently have "the potential for standing water which could affect travel and outdoor activities."
