The golden wedding day

Today is the Golden Wedding of our dear friends and neighbours, G and M. We visited them early this morning with a lovely embroidery Mum has worked on for months. Then we went shopping for an outfit for Mum for her 90th birthday which is looming.

We were quite successful on the clothes front (2 pairs of trousers, a matching top and cardigan) so Mum will look very elegant on the day.

While we were in town we went to see the stained glass shortlist for new windows in the south transept of Hexham Abbey. Do go and see the 5 remaining entrants if you are near to Hexham. There are lots of pros and cons about which entry will be best.

Finally this evening we went to J and P's house to celebrate M and G's Golden wedding with P and B. It was a lovely evening and P prepared a magnificent meal. Just when we thought we could eat no more, he tempted us with this fine platter of fresh fruit.

(This image had been treated with a Multiply blend, then Gaussian blur applied to give the rather nostalgic impression. Curves had been applied to lighten and darken areas of the image, with light painted in over the main subject before flattening layers. Something like that!
