Fly the Kite

Hurrah!

Yip, cycle cancelled after seeing the wind blawin' a hoolie first thing, so off to Argaty to try and spot some Red Kites. And within 2 minutes of arriving there was one in the distance. They stayed 'fairly' distant (thank goodness for the 500mm), but they resolutely refused to fly against the one little patch of blue sky available. Damn them. So a similar shot to yesterday's Kestrel.

Got the wildlife photo mojo back. Headed home via Cramond/Granton, and then the mouth of the river at Musselburgh. Some technically better shots that the one above came about, given the closer proximity and better light, but you've got to go with a first spot don't you? (that said, I did get another first as well, just didn't have it identified till this very moment, by the head of RSPB Scotland on Twitter no less...)

Arty Tern on White
Swallow in Flight
Cormorant Splashdown (probably the best shot of the day...)
Immature Whinchat (my other first of the day)
