In Safekeeping

A busy and delightful day today meeting up with family and catching up with everyone. Back home , checked the mail box and there was the precious envelope with our tickets for the Scotland Liechenstein game next month. Great excitement and discussion re where to safely store those precious tickets. John suggested his sporran but I don't think so, knowing him he might intend to put them there but, going on an infamous past incident ,they might never get into the said sporran.

24 years ago wearing this kilt ( brand new then ) and the sporran etc we headed off to Aberdeen via Glasgow Queen Street , John being the designated keeper of all the train tickets for our party of 5 adults and 18 cub scouts. The journey to Glasgow passed without incident and we were kept busy with 18 excitable cubs . Station staff couldn't have been more helpful to our group all of whom were wearing kilts . One of the lads had a broken leg so we were given preferential treatment and ushered through the station with John and the injured cub being taken up to the higher level by the lift leaving us to go through the station without him , and off course the tickets.. On the Aberdeen train the ticket collector approached us for the tickes and each leader directe him towards Baloo ( John ) . The compartment had all the boys baggage and kilts were hung carefully from the luggage racks to protect them during the journey. Faced with all of this the ticket collector passed through the carriage without checking the tickets.

Same again on our return journey 3 days later. When we got back to the scout hall Baloo , aka John , breathed a sigh of relief , there in the safe box in the cupboard were the return tickets from Glasgow to Aberdeen. Really don't what we leaders would have done had we known he was bluffing his way through that journey.

No need to guess who didn't take charge of the tickets for our week long trip to London later that year ( the Aberdeen trip being a practice ruun for the London one.

I think yours truly will be keeping plane , train , bus and game tickets safe this trip.

Also meant to say that this was a very tricky shot taken indoors tonight , flash overexposed the tickets and the silver on the sporran so I had a go using the bulb setting ( several go's that is till I think I got it right ) All part of life's big learning curve.

Don't know if I will have any time for blip opportunities tomorow as working as enumerator at Mod Dhalriata.
