Here is my find today in my lettering and topography quest near the TCC downtown Norfolk, Virginia campus.

This was a tight shot between the cars, and lamp posts, and trees, and parking meters and signs and other urban street debris. It was the best view I could get today.

The Velvet Lounge has a street front facade painted in a red-purple color which is very different from the stone masonry, brick, or stained wood grain of most store fronts along Granby Street.

The lettering of the word 'Velvet' is decorative sans serif typeface.
The thick even-weighted, yet stylish slightly-slanted (italic) strokes, gives a warm and welcoming hand-written flair to the business's name.

There is a balcony attached to the space above the Velvet Lounge. The iron hand-railing has very geometric motifs incorporated into the design. I choose to leave this in the photo that I posted today, for added interest. Much of downtown Norfolk was built during the 1910-1920s because of the shipyards and marine accessibility of this mouth of the Chesapeake Bay area.
