Dutch Skies

Early morning at Hoorne Plas

After the quick iPhone blip yesterday I felt it was about time that I got out with a real camera. I checked the weather forecast and it looked like we might have another epic sunrise today. As I don't have much time this morning (it's almost time for Nienke's swimming lesson) I decided to go to the Hoornse Plas, a recreational area that I visited before and is close to home.

I wasn't disappointed; it was one of the greatest sunrises I ever witnessed. For ten minutes I worked like crazy, getting all the shots I wanted to. Then it started raining a bit. Keeping in mind what I had learned earlier, I looked around to see if I was missing something somewhere else. There it was, right behind me: a rainbow with both ends visible! A few seconds later all the magic was gone.

Still enjoying the moment, I sat down on a bench and drank a cup of tea. Swans were taking off from the lake and as I watched them disappear in the distance I thought that the scene looks so much better now than it does in summer when all the people are there to swim...

Better bigger!
