Cattails

Saturday
I was at church this morning for our monthly Coffee and Conversation meeting for the ladies of the church, where, besides the coffee, we have fresh fruit and baked goods, followed by a speaker. Whereas these speakers are usually outside speakers, at the January meeting they generally have a presenter from within the church, in case of bad weather. Our featured speaker today was one of a number of talented artists within the church. Fran is both an artist (paintings and sculptures) and a poet, and she pairs her paintings and poems together. She's totally self-taught, and gets a lot of her inspiration from 'dreams', or some might say divine inspiration. She is certainly very talented. By the time I left church, the clouds were beginning to break up and there were peaks of sunshine, though it was still very cold. After lunch Roger and I went walking on the Badlands trail at Miami Whitewater Forest, then we had a stroll by the lake at the harbor area, where I blipped these cattails by the lake, which is finally beginning to freeze over. In the evening we went out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant. It has recently changed hands and this was our first visit under its new name and management. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Unfortunately, Roger had gone for a spicy dish, and found it was Very spicy - rather too much for him!
