Mum and I went to Newcastle today for the matinee of the play, Nativities, at the Live Theatre. It was a dark comedy about the staff in a call centre and the effect of pregnancies on the team. The young playwright, Zoe Cooper, is someone to look out for in the future.

We had a short stroll on the quayside, before lunch in Cafe Vivo and the play. This image is taken from the Newcastle side, so you can see the Baltic centre for Visual Arts through the famous Gateshead Millenium Bridge. The activity in the river is interesting. When the bridge was installed in 2000, a set of grey booms were placed in the river to guide shipping into the centre and to prevent damage to the bridge. These booms have looked very tatty as the years have gone by and they are now being removed. A floating crane called Atlas is in place and you can just see that one of the bollards on the far side has been roped up ready to lift.

We had a lovely day out.
