Karen Celebration

Visiting a Karen hill-tribe village in Northern Thailand made for a beautiful weekend. Beautiful people, beautiful clothes, beautiful weather (it actually got cool at night!), and beautiful surroundings.

I was most excited to see everyone dressed up in their traditional clothes, and I wasn't let down. Each hill-tribe has its own design, and people familiar with them can distinguish between each one. For Karens, married women wear black with red stripes around the middle. Married men wear a red shirt (like the men sitting down). Single girls wear a long white dress, and single guys wear a shirt any color other than red. But they aren't just any kind of shirts, they are handmade by the older women in the village. All the culture is amazing. (More pictures at my blog www.sentbygrace.blogspot.com)
