The breakthrough!

Well it's happened among much banging and thumping and endless amounts of soot and dust. Fortunately they managed to keep most of the dust contained. We may not be so lucky when they break through downstairs.

A few more problems identified - like the middle wall between the front and back bedroom wobbles - lime mortar that's disintegrating. So much for our architects pronouncement that we can't widen the width of the doorway - the reality is that this wall isn't holding anything up!

And the drain outside the back door appears to have collapsed! Who'd buy an old house.

A quick trip to a bathroom supplier in the afternoon - so bathroom fittings chosen ... and I even managed to get some petrol in Chapeltown - only a small bank loan necessary! (The petrol station at the bottom of Netherthorpe Hill was closed today - presumably they'd run out. So much for our governments attempts to reassure and calm the populace - but then I suppose it's no more than we've come to expect from this bunch of *!@!!)

Such a brilliantly hot day yesterday - it must have been a record for March. We managed some time out in the sun - a great escape from the thumping and banging.

An early meeting at the camera club about the website and then an evening talk by Colin New - some excellent and very moving prints from his visit to Turkey.
