The Edge of the Wold

The new boss?

This lady blackbird has attitude. The bird we have called the Boss for the last year is still with us, but she is no longer in charge and she seems smaller in size. This one is larger and she asserts herself over the morning food, and the old Boss gives ground. This isn't the most helpful photograph as it doesn't show her most obvious feature: a stumpy tail. The wintering blackbirds appear to have gone now, and those that remain are the resident birds, and there appear to be several territories overlapping the garden.

Yesterday, I mentioned that we would be undergoing an appraisal today. It seemed to go quite well, and I hope to bring blip news soon.

Otherwise, it was a quiet day for tidying the garden, putting the camping gear away, and entertaining Arnside Simon for tea.
