Marjorie's ramblings

The last day

Today was the 10th and last day of the 19th Haltwhistle Walking Festival. The weather defied the forecasters and it did not rain until the walk was over. It was the 3rd day of the Hexham to Haltwhistle via Blanchland walk. We completed 14 miles each day.

36 of us walked on the long walk today and 16 on the short walk. Here is BC, one of the regular festival walkers, fashioning himself a toupee from sheep's wool, as you do.

There were laughs all the way, especially when one boot gave out completely and the owner was left with the sole flapping in the breeze. Emergency treatment was administered and she finished the walk with her boot tied up with tubigrip and spare laces.

Tomorrow I will not set the alarm......
