A Day Worth Recording

Echoes

The morning sun on the radio telescopes caught my eye (again) as I joined the M11 this morning, so I made a slight detour on the way to work. From the back roads I could only catch these two, but I might go back some time more suitably equipped.

The telescopes make use of the trackbed of the former LNWR Cambridge to Oxford railway line. The 'base' is the former station buildings at Lordsbridge.

Went on a bat walk at the local nature reserve this evening with E,S and J.

Ultrasonic bat detectors don't half pick up rustling plastic bags, GSM signals, and hypersonic motors on lenses (not mine, I don't lay claim such luxuries), but it added an extra dimension hearing the echo clicks as well as seeing the bats flit between trees.
