Yesterday's Rosettes!

Backblipped on 13th May 2012

An odd day.

First, the picture - it's of the rosettes that the boys and girls won yesterday. Such impressive little creatures. I love them all - from the ones that win rosettes, to the brave hairless boys with their eye problems!

While I was out at the show yesterday, my Father-in-Law called the Wonderspouse. Mother-in-Law had collapsed and was back in hospital having tests. We waited to hear the outcome of the tests.

However, we didn't hear much at all today. Just as we woke up in the morning the power went off. When we have no power we have no heat, no light, no cooking, no nothing really.

We plugged in the old phone, which doesn't requre a power supply to work, and called the electricity people - power outage was widespread, and they didn't know how long it would take.

By this stage we were getting hungry - not much in the house that we could eat without opening the fridge or doing cooking. And, of course, no kettle means no tea!

So we checked all the animals were warm enough and OK, and abandoned the house. Local town was also completely out and closed down, so we went in search of somewhere that would provide us with some food.

We ended up in Tesco's cafe - a place that I go on my own from time to time. I bought us both lunch (I hadn't really eaten properly, so was starting to feel a bit iffy), and we felt much better. We did some shopping that didn't requre refridgeration, and also bought some snacks for supper, since we didn't know whether cooking would be an option or not.

Then we headed home. I unpacked a rat cage, and the Wonderspouse did some old-fashioned writing in a book. It was rather dark though. And the house was getting chilly - it was a wild and blowy day.

Fortunately, the power returned shortly before supper time. We had a quiet evening with the TV, then went to bed!
