Life's Little Moments

Oh, Madge, you make my heart skip a beat!

The set up ... Mister Great Blue Heron flies in with a small bundle of sticks which he presents to the Mrs who was waiting on the nest. She inspects all of the sticks.  Does a bit of rearranging.  Does a bit more rearranging.  Mister is looking on anxiously the whole time. She finally puts the finishing touches on the nursery and looks at him with her "come hither" look.  He pounces!  Feathers fly.  Perhaps baby Great Blue Herons are made...
The End.

Footnote:  Hubs and I spent an enjoyable couple of hours at Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park which is sort of a combination zoo (with only native Florida wildlife...and a pink hippo) and a rehab facility.  It provides amazing photo opportunities, especially of the birds which are mostly in wide open enclosures.  Hard to tell in some cases which birds are resident and which are "free-birds" just hanging around.  These two herons were definitely free-birds and they were constructing their nest high up above a lagoon...with alligators.  That should be incentive to the youngsters to get their first flight right!

The rain arrived after we'd only been there a short time, so we will plan a return visit sometime after the holidays.  If you'd like to see some other shots from the park, I've posted 11 starting HERE on Flickr .  The first one is guaranteed to make you giggle.

We also went to the open market this morning and got baby bok choy and yu choy greens (complete with flowers) which I will saute up tonight to go with a little roast pork tenderloin...Yum!  It's rainy and nasty out now so a good night to curl up on the sofa and watch TV.

Four more sleeps...
