Me and the kids

Busy day today.  Becky was up early and went for a 3 mile run.  After breakfast Becky, Mike and me walked down to the village.  We went into the Oxfam shop where Becky got 2 tops and a dress - £2 each.

Back home for a quick turnaround and then out again - accompanied by Neil this time.  We drove to Hedley on the Hill in Northumberland and had lunch in The Feathers Inn.  We have been going there on December 30th for a few years .  Neil has missed going for the last 3 years as he has either been in Australia or Ireland.  It was lovely to have him with us today.

The food was delicious.  Mike and I had roast beef, roast pots, yorkshire pud, parsnips and red cabbage.  Neil and Becky has pheasant casserole.  For pud I had Christmas pudding which came with a rum sauce AND clotted cream.  The healthy eating plan has well and truly gone out of the window -  for now.  After the meal we had a wander around.  There was still some snow lingering and the paths were icy in places. As you can see in my blip shot Neil's footwear was totally unsuitable  for walking in the snow - why he chose to wear white plimsolls today is a mystery.

Then we drove to Corbridge.  HERE is Neil with the bridge over the River Tyne at Corbridge in the background.  This 7 arch bridge was built in 1674. and was  the only bridge on the Tyne to withstand the famous flood of 1771.

After mooching around Corbridge we drove to Blaydon where we did some shopping before going back home.

Neil is suffering from a bad cold and cough which he has had for a few days so he went to bed for a while.  The rest of us just chilled out.  Then Mike cooked spaghetti bolognese.

Later on me, Becky and Mike played Scrabble.  Mike won.  I was last - stuck with the letter Z at the end which I couldn't fit in anywhere.

Steps today - 13,674

Sorry for the lack of comments - not had much spare time to get on blip.
