2 Black Dogs

We have reached détente. Wikipedia defines this as  "a relaxing or easing, as of tension between rivals". It's not a word often applied to dogs, but I think it's appropriate.

I've been thinking a lot about the word "sharing" today. watching the old dog figure out how to share his life, his bed and his people with the little interloper, reading about a Santa Rosa man who received the heart of  a nineteen year old killed in a accident,  and listening to a story on how not only the prognosis, but the morale of Liberians improved when President Obama announced that he was sending the troops to help them fight Ebola.

In my humble opinion, many seemingly intractable problems could be solved, if only there was more give and take, loosely defined as sharing. It is not something that can be imposed on unwilling recipients, but must be willingly undertaken by all parties. It is a concept that most of us learned as small children, but find it difficult to apply to more complex situations.

Maybe some simple examples would serve as reminders of the good that can come from sharing.
