Life's Little Moments

Bokeh Heron

It was 37 F when we woke up this morning, with a chilly wind...not a great day to embark on a wildlife outing.  I'm rapidly acclimating to Florida and am now a weenie about the weather.  When it finally warmed up to 50, I donned a turtleneck, sweater AND a fleece before venturing out.  Yes, Weenie, with a capital W.

Anyway, had a nice 1.5 mile walk and managed to get some interesting shots of this windblown Great Blue Heron.  He (or she) is in breeding plumage and those long feathers were just blowing all over the place.  In spite of the wardrobe malfunction, though, the heron still managed to look very regal.  The bokeh from the light off the water was an extra bonus. I posted two other shots of the same heron on Flickr, starting HERE

Last night I had a bit of a meltdown - our vet sent us a condolence card and when I read what he'd written, I lost it.  Poor hubs - he's trying to process his own grief and he has a sobbing wife to contend with.  Then, today while I was out, I got a call from the specialist vet to tell me that Rocket's ashes are ready to be picked up.  That gave me a few rough minutes in the car.  Luckily I wasn't driving at the time.  We will pick Rock's ashes up tomorrow when we have Phoebe there for her ultrasound.

I am very happy that I am getting out of town next week - I am off to see my parents in Phoenix for a few days, leaving Tuesday.  It will be good for me to have a change of scenery - just wish Hubs could come with me on this trip.  But. I know that mom, dad and I will have some fun adventures.  And hopefully some interesting wildlife photo ops for me...

Thanks for liking my silly spoonie and ducks blip yesterday.  It still makes me smile when I see it.  I'm meeting up with Sefferdog at Circle B on Saturday - can't wait to see what kinds of shots he and I get there, and hope the spoonie is still around.

Thursday...one more day until the weekend.
