Interglacial

There was an incredibly hard frost this morning. I would dearly have loved to have been out walking across the crunchy frozen fields I was passing on the train, but it was go-live day and I couldn't really justify going awol. The software worked well, so that gave me a boost on a day when I've felt very tired. For various reasons I didn't even make it into town at lunchtime so a bit of a change of scene today.

In the middle of the afternoon a few barges came by to break up the ice that had formed on the canal overnight. It was quite mesmerising to watch it flow past at a truly glacial pace, looking into pools of bright blue sky filled with islands of clouds.
