As dawn breaks......

.......the moon is high in the sky, light fog lies over farmland and the air has a touch of coolness reminding me we're in our last month of summer.

The calls of birds echo in the stillness of the dawn, some already feeding in the estuary while others are heading out to sea. The Pacific Ocean is calm as the waves roll in to shore edged with a delicate lace of sea foam. There's not a soul in sight as I stroll along the waters edge, eagerly looking towards the horizon watching and waiting for the sun to break through.

A few light puffy clouds were edged in light as the sky became golden out at sea, but in the distance Banks Peninsula couldn't be seen, just a lightness in the sky over Christchurch with subtle shades of grey/pink and blue mingling together.

The sun rose with haste and warmth casting long shadows over the sand and adding a golden tinge to the tussock on the dunes. The dawn chorus hit a new high with a frenzy of cries as birds took to the sky, a new day had begun.

It felt good to be back by the sea as my last sunrise was back in July last year, how did that happen? I guess my eyes and hayfever have been worse than I originally thought, spring and summer have almost gone and pollen levels are still on high to moderate, I'm hoping they will drop to low as autumn approaches. The wind has picked up but not gale force just enough to keep me inside after being at the beach, its been a warm 21C with a delightful clear blue sky above.

And, thank you all so much for yesterday's encouraging words, stars and hearts, so kind and thoughtful and very much appreciated :)

Happy Wednesday everyone :)
