A Green Day

Today has been an “environmental” day.

We used our free bus passes to go to Stirling using the Park and Ride bus. (Tick box there for reducing carbon emission.)

As members of RAGE (Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion) we called in to see our local MSP ( Labour Member of the Scottish Parliament) Dr Richard Simpson. (Tick more boxes as community activists).

Some of us remember Dr Simpson when he was our local GP and very good he was too.

And the purpose of our visit? to voice our concern over the proposed Park of Keir development (100 houses, tennis centre, museum, golf course etc.) in the middle of the Greenbelt between Bridge of Allan and Dunblane. (tick third box for environmental concerns).

He was very sympathetic, as you would expect from a doctor, but warned us that he could not comment because his wife is a local councillor and on the planning committee.

Oh well…. we made our point. So we went to Waitrose, did some Fair-trade shopping, had a free cup of tea and donated to a local charity.
( Tick more boxes -concern for Third World and helping local children).

How green can you get?

Now feeling very smug.
