The End of the Season

I picked the last of
the tangelos and, sadly,
put them in the bin

It's garbage pickup day tomorrow. I must have the citrus trees stripped of fruit. Off come the lemons. Off come the oranges. The lemon tree is no contest. It is a small tree and will remain so. The tangelo orange is about 15 feet high and its most unreachable fruit is well beyond my grasp. I must use a garden rake to snag the tallest branches and try to remove just the fruit, not the branches. The tree is beside the brick wall. I try not to let any fall over into the neighbour's yard. I see orange blossoms forming on the tree already.
