Peepers and a Pickup

Little chirpers crowd

snazzy truck parks near

We've watched a tractor supply store emerge in the foothills this winter. A large lot, empty for a long time, was developed with a building and huge parking lot. The sign went up and the lot was paved. We were rather amused that such a place could be viable in a suburban area. A sales flyer arrived at the house in a newspaper. $17.99 for a 50 lb. bag of wild bird seed caught my attention, so we had to make a trip inside the store to find out what it was all about. It is so much more than tractors or tractor parts. They have plumbing, clothing, animal feed, hardware, gardening supplies.... Today, they had several hatches of chicks and ducklings. The lady taking care of them was more than happy to lift one up for a portrait shot.

On our way out the door a lovely old pickup arrived. The owner was walking in as we were walking out. I said "That's a beautiful truck you've got there!" Without so much as a sideways glance the old geezer muttered "Thanks." as he walked past me. I guess he likes trucks more than he likes people.

It's already up to 86 degrees Fahrenheit at 2 PM. That Arizona sun is getting pretty warm again. We're packing for our departure already.
